Can I set up a FlowStop against a window?

Yes. The pressure that holds the FlowStop in place is against the frame, the side of the opening, not the door or window. FlowStop won’t put any pressure or resistance or inflict any damage to your door or window.

Is a special pump required, or is a standard pump suitable?

The pump is provided free of charge with your purchase, i.e., 1 HP2 pump for every 5 FlowStops. However, in the event of breakage or loss, inflation can be carried out using a standard or electric pump. The nozzle to be used is the same as for inflatable stand-up paddle boards or canoes and kayaks.

Can FlowStops function at extreme temperatures

FlowStop barriers are inflated at 13.5 PSI pressure. At such pressure, even in extreme temperature differences, the pressure is such that there is no alteration of the shape or resistance. FlowStop has been tested at 167f without any problem.

Measure the size of the opening you want to protect (not the size of the door/window) and order a FlowStop of that width. Please visit our tutorial for more information. As part of the purchase process we will also send a contractor to make sure of proper measurements.

FlowStop barriers are custom-made to fit your opening. FlowStop can custom-make any size or shape. FlowStop standard sizes are rectangular shapes with 31.5″ in height, 6″ – 7.5″ in depth, and 40″- 177″ in width. FlowStop can also custom-make round or square devices.

The device can remain in place and function correctly for 2 to 3 weeks. Beyond that, FlowStop cannot guarantee that it will remain watertight and resistant. It is essential for the FlowStop user that the pressure must be checked every 2 weeks.

Do I need to purchase tools or other equipment to use my FlowStop?

No, there is no additional cost or need for any installation tool. FlowStop includes a pump to inflate your FlowStop with your order. You only need a measuring tape to measure the width of your openings before ordering to ensure FlowStop creates the perfect FlowStop barriers for your doors and windows. As part of the purchase process we will have a contractor to come out to verify measurements.

How to store and organize a FlowStop?

Once your FlowStop device is deflated, you can store it rolled up or leave it slightly inflated to retain its shape if you have enough space.FlowStop barriers must be stored in a location where the temperature does not exceed 60°C. Exposure to temperatures above this threshold may affect the materials, performance, and warranty of the products. FlowStop barriers must be stored in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Outdoor storage is strictly prohibited to prevent damage to the FlowStop.There is no need to re-inflate it regularly.The device is resistant to sunlight and heat, but excessive exposure during prolonged periods of high temperatures can cause an increase in internal pressure, putting stress on the bonds and seams, which may result in slight leaks.Prolonged use in high temperatures or direct sunlight may reduce the product’s durability.

Are FlowStop barriers effective if water stagnates during a flood?

FlowStop solutions remain effective at preventing water from entering through openings (doors, windows, garages, etc.). However, if water stagnates for more than three days during a flood, their effectiveness also depends on the overall watertightness of the building.If the building has weak points (old walls, cracks, pipework, non-watertight floor slabs), or in the event of high water pressure, water may seep in via other routes. Furthermore, FlowStop devices do not address water rising from the ground or through the walls.This type of problem requires additional solutions specific to the building’s structure.

In which cases should I add sump pumps in addition to FlowStop solutions?

In the event of prolonged flooding and therefore potential water ingress through walls and/or floors, or if the water level exceeds the height of the waterproofing joint, the pumps take over by draining the water outwards. They thus provide an additional safety measure to minimise risks and effectively protect the building.
